In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves. Following this philosophy, Tomahawks Explorer Scout Unit is run by its members for its members.Tomahawks has an Executive Committee of Explorers who put together the programme each term and make decisions for the unit. These Explorers are elected to form the ‘Unit Exec’ at our AGM each year by all the members of the unit. They work alongside the leaders to ensure Tomahawks is run how the members want it to be.
The Tomahawks are preparing for more Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions as well as continuing with our programme for the term (a copy is on our website).  We’ve been busy doing climbing, archery, backwoods cooking, pioneering, canoeing and other stuff besides – we like to keep busy and will be taking in ski bobbing and ringos amongst other things before the year is out.
Drop us a line if you want to know more – we’re a friendly bunch and always happy to welcome new people to join us!
